A Village Chapel, Preserved for Generations
The Rockville Community Chapel, built in 1851 as the Rockville Free Baptist Church, has long been a landmark in the small village of Rockville in Rockport, Maine. For more than a century, the chapel served as the spiritual and social heart of a once-thriving village that included schools, shops, and civic buildings. As the community changed and the congregation declined, the church was eventually decommissioned in the 1970s and reimagined as a nondenominational community chapel.
Today, thanks to the dedication of local residents and volunteers who restored the building beginning in 2010, the chapel continues to serve as a gathering place for concerts, celebrations, and community events—preserving both the building and the history of Rockville for future generations.
A new chapter has begun for the Rockville Community Chapel and we are pleased to welcome you!
